Ok i'm a proud new owner of a 95 5speed yj:) But there is a catch. Its hard to shift in neutral/4 low, and when it goes in the front driveshaft doesn't spin. any ideas?

Fabz 95 is the exact same way..it's really hard to put into 4lo.
You gotta get under it and adjust the linkage so it's pushing the transfer case lever all the way into 4lo.
It also helps if you pull off the shift lever boot on the floor inside the cab and look at the shifting pattern, You pull the lever straight back, the jam it over to the side, then back again. It's hard. If you lube up the bottom of the lever (under the floor) adjust the linkage... It should help.
To check to see if your case is working, remove the linkage from the lever on the side of the case, and move the lever into 4Lo manually with your hand or with a broom handle & a hammer and tap until the lever moves into place.
I'm betting the 4x4 works and you're just not getting it into gear all the way.

Thanks pimpin, just got it home was dark out. to late for me to heat up the shop. I figured it would be a linage problem, hopefully not a bent fork problem. i got it to go in a couple times. went right in when i test drove it rofl.

I don't know why YJ shifters are like that, XJs have an angled lever that is really easy to pull... You still gotta pull back-sideways-back but it's not nearly as hard. Maybe you can bolt an XJ lever onto the floor of it so you aren't fighting it all the time.
Once I got Fabz linkage adjusted where it needed to be, I tightened the clamp bolt down but it wouldn't stay, so I put a tack weld on it .

Get a NP 231, they're all 231s.
The input shaft from the tranny has a certain spline count... Pull your transfer case, the carefully count the splines on the input shaft on back the tranny. Then get a 231 to match.
That's the best I can tell you... Ask whoever has the case for sale to count the splines for you before you go look at it. If the spline count matches, it should fit.
